  1. Not directly related to this post, but I saw a ridiculous article on the bbc today: http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/article/32916056/porn-addiction-i-couldnt-focus-on-everyday-activities

The quote at the end from a “sex addiction therapist” actually seems reasonably sensible, but the ludicrous part is halfway down where they drop in a homophobic comment about the porn addict being “disturbed” by gay porn.
Using porn to change people’s sexuality was tried back when being gay was illegal and homosexuality was considered a mental illness. It didn’t work to “cure” people of gayness then and the idea that porn will turn straight people gay is just as silly.
If the “porn addict” found himself masturbating to gay porn, then he’s probably a closeted gay or bisexual. Maybe instead of blaming porn for exposing the poor delicate straight boys to content that makes them question their sexuality, the bbc should be concerned about why this young person grew up considering gay urges to be “disturbing”.

  2. The comment I’ll make that is related to this post is that it’d be useful to have a clickable link to the research as well as one in a picture. I know I could just type it into the address bar, but being able to click it would be much easier.

  3. I’m told that sex addiction exists but as of yet I have yet to find a genuine example of someone who is suffering from this “sex addiction”

In a podcast recently I had to stop a female producer who admitted she was addicted to porn thnking I found the real deal and then when she stoppe to think about it admitte she was young, healthy and her urges were strong. That s to say, if she wasnt getting it frm her boyfriend she would rub one out without him. The fact she used porn for visual stimulus was more for expediency than need.

Would suffereer of “porn addiction” go through cold turkey? Would they feel the need to contro themselves in embarrassingly inconvennient situations? aAnd even if they did would they act on those urges in the same way a drug addict will?

Lets stop bandying the pon addiction word around because it seems there are those who are quick to exploit this as if its a modern day phenomenon they need to consoldiate their mission to remove it from sight by ban or censorship.

Either way it will not stop peoples need to masturbate.

Further to the “disturbed” by seeing homosexual images I would venture, why did he look at it in the first place. As a straight man Ive seen gay porn with lady friends and admit it did not disturb me one bit and nor was I excited by it. I beleive any form of reaction , be it repulse, disgust may betray an inner denial for why people feel that way.

isn’t the normal reaction to be indifferent? If it excites you then go with it. You have gay or bi tendencies. You’re not weird or immoral. It means you’ve got more chance of getting laid on a Saturday night than vanilla straighties like me.

What annoys me about the BBC is this shoddy journalism to ingratiate its god fearing moralist decent minded folk…What does that mean anyway? That lot are the worst hypocrites.

To me that poor boy needed to get way from the porn and get himself a nice girlfriend…Or a boyfriend or both and have a threesome. Best of both worlds. Enjoy your youth or just get yourself an XBox and play games all day
